Missouri CMSA

Producing low-key, high-value mounted shooting clinics, lessons & events

Travis and Laura Smith have been married for 30 years and have been involved in the sport for 22 of those years together. (cue awkward switch from 3rd person narrative to 1st)....We have two children, Katie and Zane who are also competitive mounted shooters and horsemen in their own right (sort of, when they listen to their parents anyway). We're a family with a passion for the sport of mounted shooting and the desire to see it grow. Or at least Travis, Laura & Katie have that, Zane would probably rather ride his dirtbike.
We have hosted many clinics at every level, fostered a number of great competitors, and produced events for more than fifteen years in the Central Missouri area. We work hard to provide a positive place for all mounted shooters to learn, compete and grow in an encouraging, fun setting. Our mission is to highlight and improve the horsemanship and fun of this highly competitive equestrian sport.
Interested in the sport? Call or text Travis at 573-881-7463 or Laura at 573-881-3833! Actually, Travis is a professional farrier, he never answers his phone, probably just text Laura.

Congratulations State High Point Champs!

Travis & Katie were the first ever to accomplish winning CMSA Missouri State High Point Cowboy & Cowgirl as father/daughter last season!

We're proud of our 100% home trained horses, and thankful for this amazing sport and all the sponsors and event producers that allow us to have it!

The Facility

The home base for MO CMSA is located seven miles north of I-70 and Columbia. We built this 250 X 120 arena around the most perfect footing we've ever found and we work hard to get and keep it that way!
When you haul to us, you're on a fully fenced private property in a secluded valley setting with plenty of parking. Big pastures with a pretty creek just beyond the tree line incorporate a fun little woods hill trail to ride, a 60ft shaded sand round pen and plenty of warm-up space next to the arena.
This is our home and our sanctuary, it's mostly always peaceful (unless we're working cattle which only happens once a year. Ha!). We don't open our place for visitors very often but when we do, our priority is on you feeling welcome and having fun with your horse and friends!
As with all outdoor pens, we're weather dependent. Please text Laura at 573-881-3833 or check our FB page for weather updates on events. I'll do my best not to vent to you about our great state's weather patterns when I respond. No promises.
Note: We do have access to an all-weather covered arena for a backup for many of our events.

Missouri CMSA is a local affiliate club of the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association
